Cyprian Moio

Cyprian Moio

Cipriano Moio was born in Saint-Denis, in the 93rd district. The son of Italian immigrants, the youngest of five children, he spent his entire childhood in Eaubonne, a suburban housing project north of Paris. He owes much of his childhood happiness to an orchard nestled between the apartment buildings, a wild corner of paradise that was his most wonderful playground. Despite his passion for reading novels, which he devoured in his spare time, school was not the place of fulfillment he had hoped for. He felt as confined there as a caged lion. He was a rebellious dreamer who spent most of his time watching the birds fly outside his classroom windows. After a brief period of study, having earned his BEPC (Brevet d'Études du Premier Cycle), he left school at the age of 17 to work for a few months in two metalworking factories, an experience that definitively dissuaded him from following in his father's footsteps as a Citroën factory worker. He completed his military service in Alsace, a year that left him with lasting nightmares, and then ran his own pizza truck for 12 years. Dissatisfied, yearning for wide open spaces and freedom, and deeply in love with the French language, he left his suburban home and his job as a pizza maker at the age of 33 to settle in the countryside, where he has since devoted himself entirely to writing.

This is a deeply moving story that I urge you to devour. The story of Ulysses and Lou, two wounded souls searching for meaning and the absolute, who are madly in love. Their happiness is fragile: disgusted by a world that revolts them, fearing that it will all end one day, Ulysses and Lou know they are vulnerable. The revelation of a hidden secret, a tragic piece of news, and the waking dream they are living will suddenly turn into a nightmare. How far can one go for love? How far would you go for love? This is the fundamental question posed by this novel. Publication date: July 1, 2024. Order now. Press release.

What good is color if the painting is devoid of feeling? What good is it to contemplate beauty on the surface without bothering to explore its depths? I invite you on a journey into the shallows of the soul: the return voyage of Ulysses; a modern-day Ulysses, with his solitude, his wanderings, his doubts, his convictions, his flashes of insight. Captain of a phantom ship, Ulysses tirelessly haunts the world's oceans. What is he searching for? Whom is he searching for? He is searching for Atlantis, an entire world lost beneath the waves. He is searching for purity, love, wonder, freedom, light. Ulysses finds the hidden treasures of this mythical city in the protective Woman; the mother, the sister, the wife: his reasons for hope, his reasons for being.
