"Of Light, Gold, and Lead" is a coming-of-age novel that traces the life of Antonin Courbet, from the end of his childhood to the end of his studies. Over the years, this gifted boy experiences an irresistible rise to fame, before being drawn into a decline into disillusionment. A close relationship develops between the book's hero and the reader, who is led to reflect on life's disenchantment and disappointments. "It was by bowing out of podiums and honors that I managed to stay in the race. If I had given in to the captivating attraction of lights and spotlights, I would have burned my wings. The way the world works is strange and mysterious, its twists and turns impenetrable. A capricious and invisible hand constantly stands between the object of desire and oneself." One must constantly renounce pleasure and intoxication in order to maintain the hope of indulging in them later." Published: May 1, 2024 Order Press release
