Véronique Marceau
Véronique Marceau was born in 1962 in Lyon. After studying engineering, she spent her entire career with a major French automotive company. She is the mother of three children and divides her time between Essonne, where she has lived for over twenty years, and the Var, where all her childhood memories are. "Michel et elle" (Michel and Her) is her first novel.
Paul and Léonore have been living together in their parents' house since their parents' death in a car accident. Léo is a bright and unconventional young woman. Perpetually angry, she drifts from the world and her own life, unable to tolerate people anymore. Until the day she encounters a book that profoundly affects her and grips her to the point of obsession: Montaigne's Essays. Paul then watches helplessly and terrified as his twin sister undergoes a slow metamorphosis, gradually withdrawing and escaping, letting go of his hand to take the philosopher's. One morning, she disappears. Meanwhile, Jeanne writes in her journal and discovers that a painful, insidious, and incurable disease flows in her veins, a sword of Damocles hanging over her. Paul and Jeanne will read Montaigne in turn, unaware that a journey awaits them at the end of the road and that through the Essays, they will discover much more, beginning with themselves.
