Alain Jugnon
Alain Jugnon is a writer and philosopher. He has written for the theater and published essays and articles on Nietzsche, Artaud, Bataille, Debord, Stiegler, and many others. He has edited numerous journals and anthologies. He taught philosophy at a public high school and worked as a playwright at the Théâtre Les Ateliers in Lyon.
Alain Jugnon is searching, searching for revolution in the theater and revolution in the theater of writing. He seeks it in the texts of his friends, such as Michel Surya, Amandine André, Jacques Sicard, Philippe Blanchon, and Jacques-Henri Michot. He seeks it in his own books, in the books of Artaud, Bousquet, Beckett, Duras, Gombrowicz, Pasolini, and Genet. And many others. He also seeks it with the thinkers who accompany him every day, including Nietzsche, Deleuze, Derrida, Vuarnet, and Stiegler. “From now on, I am entirely theater and thought from head to toe. Entirely and henceforth theater from mouth to sphincter, right hand and left hand. What I want: the writing of the theater I am becoming. That is to say: the theater of the writing that I am.” What I can do: read Nietzsche and read Artaud as if they had prepared together at the Vieux Colombier the final performances of the Theatre of Cruelty. Filth has always been everywhere, but nowhere more so than in families, to begin with. In which just about everyone who's ever been involved is still involved, and ultimately, everyone else is involved too. To betray the family, to accuse it: guaranteed dereliction. Unless you laugh at it, with a laugh as filthy as the family itself. But no one does that anymore; respect has prevailed everywhere. If Jugnon, with En ordre de Bataille, is a play. A play straight from… The names don't abound: Müller, Bernhard, of course. More directly: Jarry & Beckett. Jarry for seriousness, Beckett for farce. En ordre de Bataille: to be put in the hands of all old people of all ages. To put an end to their venereal family venerations. Michel Surya Publication date: March 15, 2021 Order
