Coralie Akiyama

A graduate of Sciences Po Lyon, Coralie Akiyama (1984) lived in Tokyo for 13 years and now divides her time between Paris, Tokyo, and Tel Aviv. She is the author of the novels *Féérie pour de vrai* and *Devourée*, the poetry collections *Désordre avec vue* and *Vivante-moi*, and the play *L'Étape Zéro*. *Shoshana* is her third collection.

“City, sensual girl, your paint flows over the broad, dark leaves of the courtyards. Voluptuousness of green on ochre facades. Someone will love someone. The night cranes will stretch their long necks like luminous giraffes.” Shoshana (“rose” in Hebrew) was written on a Tel Aviv veranda. Workers were knocking down rubble, creating a playful clatter. The foliage was stained with paint. Beyond the immense window, a vibrant city, lush vegetation, babies, cats, dogs, women in revealing swimsuits, rough-hewn yet gentle men. Shoshana is a sensual, flamboyant, and fiery collection that recounts the blossoming of a rose on arid yet fertile soil and allows us to taste its light. Publication date: April 1, 2023. Order now

“Alcohol, I’m talking to you. There are liquids that listen, that don’t leak,” “Where to look for a father? Follow what fantasy, what turmoil, what grimace?” “My endless evening summons a girl (...).” These jumbled pronouncements open onto a fertile disorder of lights, ages, and bodies. Shadows are summoned to answer, the elsewhere leaps through the window. Questions, fragmented dialogues… Laid-back thoughts venture into a dreamlike territory entitled “The Bazaar of My Dreams,” a collection of shimmering and sensual glitches. Disorder with a View, followed by the surprising Sidérations, is an invitation to find beauty in the daily clutter. To plumb inaudible treasures, hidden deep within our dissonances. The photographs are by the author. They distill the intimacy of the Japanese house, a magical universe extending from her novels. Order now
