Éric COLLET
Born in Metz in 1957, Éric Collet is a general practitioner and emergency physician. After studying in the Champagne-Ardenne region, he practiced medicine in the emergency medical services (SAMU) of the Marne and then the Aube departments. He then spent a few years in the Toulouse area, near Albi, where the landscapes of this region, so dear to his heart, inspired him to write his first novel. Returning to the Aube, he published this debut work, which features a young police officer newly arrived in the Tarn department. Éric Collet is the father of four daughters and a grandfather several times over. A music lover, he enjoys playing a few bars of rock with his friends at the drum kit.
In 451 AD, the Roman legions, allied under General Aetius, clashed in a fierce battle against the barbarian hordes of the Huns, commanded by the fearsome Attila, at the foot of the walls of Troyes. More than fifteen hundred years later, a Visigothic tomb bearing the name Marcus-Athaulf was unearthed a few kilometers from Gaillac. Its contents were astonishing! Archaeologist Josyane Préau was sent by INRAP (National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research) to oversee the excavation and understand the crucial importance of this discovery. A few months later, she was found dead under the wheels of a TER train making the daily run between Albi and Toulouse. What happened? Colonel Laborde, commander of the Albi gendarmerie, entrusted Hippolyte and his team with the task of unraveling the truth in this affair. During his second investigation, which will take him across France, to the first capital of the Franks and the capital of the Counts of Champagne, our dashing captain finds himself drawn into the pursuit of a ruthless and terrifyingly dangerous criminal.
