In 451 AD, the united Roman legions led by Generalissimo Aetius clashed in a great battle of rare violence with the barbarian hordes of the Huns commanded by the terrible Attila, at the foot of the walls of Troyes. More than fifteen hundred years later, a Visigothic tomb in the name of Marcus Athaulf was unearthed a few kilometers from Gaillac. Its contents were surprising! Archaeologist Josyane Préau was sent by INRAP to take charge of the excavation site and understand the capital importance of this discovery. A few months later, she was found dead under the wheels of a TER train making the daily connection between Albi and Toulouse. What happened? Colonel Laborde, who commanded the Albi gendarmerie, then entrusted Hippolyte and his colleagues with the task of sorting out the truth from lies in this affair. During his second investigation, which will take him across France, visiting the first capital of the Franks and discovering that of the Counts of Champagne, our dashing captain finds himself drawn into the pursuit of a shameless and terribly dangerous criminal.
