At the end of 2016, the company my wife and I had run for 28 years went into liquidation. Eleven days later, after a long battle with cancer, she passed away. I left London to attract attention, to convey messages to the world, and to share passions. I asked the world for something in return, but in my wildest dreams, I couldn't have imagined what was about to happen to me. The people, the places, the sights, the sounds, and the smells filled me with joy every day. Unpaved roads, breakdowns, border crossings, guns, machetes, sweat and tears, and illegal entry into the United States were all part of the daily challenges. But an unlikely encounter, an impossible continuation, and a completely unforeseen conclusion took me from sorrow to happiness. This unexpected interlude led me to rediscover what I already knew to be true: that the greatest thing in life is learning to love and be loved in return.
