At the end of 2016, the company my wife and I ran for 28 years went into liquidation. Eleven days later, after a long battle with cancer, she passed away. I set out from London to attract attention, to carry messages to the world, and to share passions. I asked the world to deliver something in return, but in my wildest dreams, I couldn't have imagined what would happen. The people, places, sights, sounds, and smells filled me with joy every day. Unpaved roads, breakdowns, border crossings, firearms, machetes, sweat and tears, and illegal entry into the United States were among the daily challenges. But an unlikely encounter, an impossible continuation, and a completely unpredictable conclusion took me from sorrow to happiness. This unexpected interlude led me to relearn what I already knew to be true: that the greatest thing in life is learning to love and be loved in return.
