Douro Editions "Through reading, we become absent from ourselves and our own lives." Alphonse Karr
Isabelle Cros

Isabelle Cros loves texts, reading them, writing them, and sharing them. For her, they are an opening to the world, a field of freedom and pleasure, a step aside to see differently, to try to understand. She writes about subjects that touch her, from which she distances herself; she transposes them through writing. She is passionate about literature, childhood, and travel. She lives in Ardèche.

This fiction unfolds over seven generations. So many layers of secrets, promises, hopes, lies, prohibitions, unspoken things that trickle down and oxidize. So many chapters of a family novel written with the ink of silences and a pen sharpened with the blades of kitchens and battlefields. The identity of the narrator will not be immediately revealed to the readers who will embark on the discovery. She will confide in them: "I have often wondered what would have happened if the qualities of the mind had come to calm the overflowings of passion. My desire to tell a story was born from this space of possible glimpses." This improbable narrator will try to understand and sometimes love the characters she hears about or who approach her; Théophile and Philippe, Eulalie, the capricious and Judith, Louis and Églantine... A saga, a drama tinged with fantasy, a thriller with its procession of alliances, suspicions, jealousies, lies, accusations, manipulation and harassment, because love and the place of each person, just like material goods, can be at stake in negotiations.
