Dorothée Coll

Born in 1973, after numerous moves, Dorothée Coll settled in Corsica in 2007, where she chose to put down roots. A trainer in French and socio-cultural education at an agricultural institution for over 15 years, she recently became an Employment Support Advisor. Humanity, in all its diversity, has long been a part of her professional life, and it is one of her preferred sources of inspiration. "Tronches de vie" (Slices of Life) follows on from her last collection of poems, "Les autres au tamis du regard" (Others Through the Sieve of Our Gaze), published in September 2023 by Jacques Flament. Her bibliography currently includes three other poetry collections: "Imprécis de cuisine" (Cooking inaccuracies) (Jacques Flament, 2021), "Oscillations" (Oscillations) (Lunatique, 2022), "Terre d'accueil" (Welcoming Land), dedicated to Corsica (Fabulla, 2023), and a short story, "Arpenteur de brume" (Surveyor of Mist) (Lamiroy, 2021). https://dorotheecoll.wordpress.com/

A look at our everyday imbalances through brief moments: a woman twirls on a makeshift ice rink, a lost soul takes her bad mood for a stroll down the street, a mischievous woman in her forties makes her trip to the supermarket playful… or slightly more generous slices of life: a man reflects on his failed life, a young hairdresser fantasizes, two proud people circle each other. Fifteen short and very short stories that all highlight the flaws in our armor, our shortcomings, our oddities, those shadowy parts we often try to hide, that we are sometimes ashamed of, and yet which are fundamental to our humanity. Funny stories, sad stories, those of fallible individuals, often touching, told with words chosen by the characters themselves. Publication date: June 1, 2024. Order now
