Douro Editions "Through reading, we become absent from ourselves and our own lives." Alphonse Karr
Magrit Champagne

Magrit was born on Ascension Thursday, 1942, in a pretty village in Tours. After a parental breakup, her schooling was chaotic and unconventional. The village priest taught her some basic knowledge a few hours a week. This lack led to deep frustration. Intrigued by human behavior, widowed at the dawn of her 40th birthday, Magrit began studying psychology. She would become an addiction specialist and then a psychoanalyst. She also discovered a passion for reading, devouring certain authors, including Nietzsche, Spinoza, Proust, and Simone Veil. She met the writer Michel Dansel, who encouraged her to write novels. His narrative style and unusual characters undoubtedly influenced Magrit's writing. An octogenarian, living in a small Vendée village, she continues to write as much to share her slices of life as for the pleasure of juggling with the words of what she calls "the most beautiful French language".

One night, Aline has a horrible nightmare in which she sees Adrien, the man of her heart, struggling in water as black as a moonless night. She goes to the barge, their beloved haven. Grabbed by someone who drags her inside, she discovers Adrien in a very bad situation. This scene is the beginning of an epic between dream and reality, between fiction and autobiography. Aline takes us on a dreamlike journey around the world, where we see places where she may have traveled... or not, where she has experienced extraordinary adventures... or not. Thriller or story of an extraordinary life, Aline draws the reader into her quest with convincing innocence. As we read, we are driven by a single desire: to follow in his footsteps.
