Jean-Marie Piemme

Jean-Marie Piemme

Born in a steelmaking region not far from the Meuse River, Jean-Marie Piemme attended the University of Liège at his father's insistence. He left to study at the Institute of Theatre Studies at the Sorbonne and began his career in theatre as a playwright. He then worked with the emerging theatre scene of the time before joining Gérard Mortier's team at the Brussels Opera, which he left to dedicate himself (belatedly) to writing theatrical fiction: some fifty plays followed, most of which were performed in French-speaking countries.

A dog banished from paradise recounts his hardships; two daughters search for their long-lost and illustrious father; a handyman has had enough; a powerful businessman wants to pay more taxes; a media mogul trains her intern; three intelligence agents surveil the apartment of a suspected eco-terrorist: six stories about the violence of human relationships, written with a touch of lightness and humor.
