Didier Cattiaut
After beginning his career in aeronautics as an air traffic controller, Didier Cattiaut turned to more artistic pursuits. A stint at the Rennes Conservatory immersed him in the world of theater: he worked as a freelance performer, acting, directing, writing, and teaching. With the birth of his daughters, and the unpredictable nature of life as a performer, he established an arts and crafts business without abandoning his passion for culture. Writing several short stories, some of which won awards and were published, led him to embark on the grand adventure of his first novel, an encounter with history that took him all the way to Sarajevo…
What if this time it was Eurydice who descended into the underworld to save Orpheus? In Paris, in 1990, Eurydice is Hélène. She's 20 years old and an art student. Her Orpheus is Mil, barely older than her, a Yugoslavian painter who came to try his luck in Paris. Life, love, happiness—everything smiles upon them… Then comes the serpent: in 1992, war breaks out in the Balkans, drawing Mil into its maelstrom. What other choice does Hélène have but to descend into the hell of Sarajevo herself, in the midst of the siege, to try to save her beloved?… She will share with us the daily lives of these ordinary, anonymous heroes, brimming with humanity, who bravely try to resist their fate. And will this Eurydice be able to bring Orpheus back without looking back?… Publication date: October 1, 2023. Order now
