"The Alentejo has no shadows," sing the peasants of Portugal's driest region. It is on this land of endless summers that fathers were born. And that sons search for them. The son is the narrator. To find his father's path, he must go there. This book is one of modesty and silence. Land Without Shadows is a novel of memory and transmission, where nature and humankind ultimately merge in an endless landscape.
