Julien Giovannoni
Immersed in the worlds of cyberpunk science fiction, Julien Giovannoni chose to write fiction, giving form to crime novels and thrillers set in futuristic contexts, exploring themes that blend scientific experimentation and urban legends. With Speed'Organes, he created a sprawling urban monster, a hypothetical, diseased mutation of his native region, where the protagonists are trapped within the conventions of a classic noir novel to confront the technological and social excesses of new technologies. Beyond this, Julien enjoys escaping urban life and hiking in nature. There, he gleans inspiration for the other genres that fascinate him: historical adventure and fantasy.
The Mandatory Organ Donation Law allows any private organization to harvest organs from every deceased citizen and deliver them for transplantation by autonomous surgical robots. Only one city enforces this law, and not just any city: the sprawling metropolis of Nicae Ratapignata, haphazardly built on the ruins of a devastating earthquake in southeastern France. Its not-so-great reputation, coupled with high crime and mortality rates, has opened the door to all kinds of trafficking related to human bodies. Marion Hernandez, a detective with the Criminal Investigation Division, knows this all too well; her roommate and friend, Satine Ramie, works for Speed'Organes, the largest company in the business. But when an organ courier working for a clandestine company is involved in a car accident, a bloody investigation will lead her to an organ harvesting and transplant obsessive whose methods prove to be highly innovative and disturbing.
