Sarah Mirkovitch

After earning two degrees in Modern Literature and French as a Foreign Language, Sarah Mirkovitch dedicated herself to teaching French, translation, voice-over work, and conference interpreting in Barcelona, Spain. Under the watchful eye of her philosopher friend, Nelly Schnaith, she tackled a significant project by translating Michel Serres's *Le passage du Nord-Ouest* into Spanish for Debate publishers (Madrid). A film enthusiast since childhood, she trained as a screenwriter, wrote a feature film and several short films in French and Spanish, and then wrote a short story in her native language, which she sent to the philosopher and humorist Yves Cusset, who offered to sponsor her for the Avignon Off Festival as part of the Carte Blanche program. Three more short stories followed for the same festival. Then, the collection *Contes d'entre les mondes* was published by 999 publishers. *Le masque du silence* is her first novel.

Alex Basso i Boronat decided to follow in the footsteps of his father, Pablo, a Catalan journalist, not to practice his profession in Spain under the Franco regime, but to become a photojournalist in Latin America. Upon reaching adulthood, he left Barcelona and flew to Buenos Aires, where he met Mia, a political activist who would become his muse and the love of his life until the day of their accident, which plunged him into a long coma. When he awoke, he longed for Mia, but no one had ever heard of her. Convinced of her forced disappearance, he couldn't investigate, as Argentina had become too dangerous for him to risk his life. With the help of an attaché from the Spanish embassy, he left the country and returned to Barcelona. Determined not to abandon his search, he pursued his investigation, which led him to Paris, where surprising revelations awaited him. Publication date: February 15, 2025. Order now. Press release.
