Joëlle Pétillot

Ando RANAIVOSOA

Joëlle Pétillot was born in 1956 to a father who was a draftsman, illustrator, and painter, and a mother who was a pianist. A house full of books and a healthy dose of curiosity played a significant role in her early desire to write. After novels and short stories, poetry became increasingly prominent; however, she doesn't exclude anything, including humorous columns, short stories, or narratives in various forms: the essential thing is not to be where one might expect her to be. Publications in several journals: Lichen, Reflets du Temps, L'Ardent Pays, Le Capital des mots, La Cause littéraire, Possibles, Poésie première, Incertain Regard, Décharge (Le choix de Décharge), Comme en poésie, ARPA Écrits du Nord, Verso, Recours au poème, Traction Braban, Cabaret, Saraswati, Voix, Revue Méninges, Recours au Poème... Publications of poetry collections: Le bal des choses immobiles, Alcyone editions, Éclair obscur, Prix des trouvères lycéens 2020, Henry editions. Novels: La belle ogresse, La reine monstre (Belle ogresse 2). Short stories: Le hasard des rencontres, Petites morts ou presque. Novels and short stories published by Chemins de Tr@verses.

How to chronicle silences? Perhaps by listening to them. The most profound silence is the one that awaits us all; few are in a hurry to experience it. But a silence imbued with life is made of a thousand things, and can also adorn itself, seize hold of the thoughts it inspires, the paths it opens to our gaze, the music it evokes, and the scents it carries. It is a gift from the world, a privileged dream because, fully awake, we drink it in, inhale it, savor it, distill it. The "chronicles" were born from this devouring. More playful (though perhaps not entirely), the short films, brief as the title suggests, have taken on the challenge of saying far and wide in few words, preferably playful ones: depth does not preclude mischief. Both are life itself. Enjoy this vibrant reading.
