Nicole Gauvain-Kerymel

Originally from Brittany and a biologist by training, Nicole Gauvain-Kerymel led ceramics and visual arts workshops for twenty years. Now retired, she divides her time between Val-d'Oise and Brittany and teaches Tai Chi Chuan at a local association. "Les Pères" is her third published novel.

Two men leave their countries for a new life, a life they desired, a life they dreamed of. The United States for Alain, Brazil for Gabriel. One leaves behind the woman he loves, Sylvie, the other joins his fiancée, Maria-Louisa. More than twenty years separate these two departures. A bereavement will shake the life of Alain, a businessman and man in a hurry, leading him to question the concept of lineage. Like him, Gabriel, Marc, and Fabrice, each in their own way, will discover that the terms son, father, and stepfather conceal realities that are sometimes rich but often complex.
